Sometimes modifiers come between a subject and its verb, but these modifiers should not confuse the match between the subject and his verb. Article 1. A theme will be in front of a sentence that will begin. It is a key rule for understanding the subjects. The word is the culprit in many, perhaps most, subject-word errors. Authors, speakers, readers and listeners might regret the all-too-frequent error in the following sentence: Being able to find the right topic and verb will help you correct the errors of the subject-verb agreement. The person and the subject number of the clause determine the person and the number of the verb of the clause. This is called the word-subject or concord agreement: in informal writing, nor and sometimes a pluralistic verb, if these pronouns are followed by a prepositionphrase that begins with. This is especially true for interrogation constructions: “Did two clowns read the mission?” “You`re taking this seriously?” Burchfield calls it “a conflict between the fictitious agreement and the actual agreement.” See Plurale section for additional help with the subject verb agreement.

This sentence refers to the individual efforts of each crew member. The Gregg Reference Manual provides excellent explanations for the subject-verb agreement (section 10: 1001). Expressions of rupture like half, part of, a percentage of, the majority of are sometimes singular and sometimes plural, depending on the meaning. (The same is true, of course, when all, all, more, most and some act as subjects.) The totals and products of mathematical processes are expressed in singular and require singular verbs. The phrase “more than one” (weirdly) takes on a singular verb: “More than one student has tried to do so.” For example, the Committee participates in various volunteer activities in its private life. Exceptions: Violation and entry is against the law. The Bed and Breakfast was lovely. The example above implies that others, with the exception of Hannah, like to read comics. Therefore, the plural verb is the correct form to use. Example: The list of items is on the desktop.
If you know that the list is the topic, then choose for the verb. The first example expresses a wish, not a fact; Therefore, what we usually consider plural is used with the singular. (Technically, this is the singular theme of the object clause in the subjunctive mind: it was Friday.) Usually, it would look awful. However, in the second example, where a question is formulated, the spirit of subjunctive is true.
